Hockey season is under way. And, when the name Wayne Gretsky, is mentioned you might conjure up images of this fabulous hockey pro having played 20 seasons in the NHL! However, I don’t think that wine would be part of that image.
Last night I tasted No 99 (his # and also the year that he retired) Wayne Gretsky 2012 Cabernet from Sonoma County. Yes…he owns a winery and is producing wines in CA and BC.
This smooth cab had black cherry, blackberry and a hint of oak on the nose. It was well balanced with pepper, anise and soft fruit on the palate. It had a short finish. For more info on this winery, visit: http://www.gretzkyestateswines.com/
Now I need to choose a wine for Game 3 of the World Series this evening. What will you be drinking this weekend?
